Fluent Engineering is a growing MEP engineering firm based in Salem, Oregon.

 

Position Description

The position provides the skills and knowledge that produce firm output. Designs and documents the various systems related to MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) and Technology engineering projects or assignments.

 

Typical duties:

  • Assist with plan development throughout the life of a project (Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents).
  • Create details and sketches in AutoCAD.
  • Research equipment selections to determine design requirements.
  • Convert product data to design information.
  • Assist with the development of project specification documents.
  • Research applicable codes for project-specific requirements.
  • Perform engineering simulations (photometric, fault current, etc.).
  • Attend meetings and assist with the creation of meeting minutes.
  • Perform site visits and assist with documentation of observed conditions.
  • Work with engineers to determine priorities and schedule tasks accordingly.
  • May assist with other technical tasks and input as needed by firm or administration.
  • Work with the Engineer/Manager to maintain consistent project information flow to individuals assigned to the project.
  • Communicate with client and interdisciplinary teams under the direction of the Engineer or Record and/or Project Manager.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent experience with an Associate’s Degree. Non-accredited energy engineering degrees are also acceptable.
  • 1+ year(s) of MEP commercial consulting firm experience preferred.
  • 2+ years drafting experience (AutoCAD required, Revit is a plus).
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC) and Oregon Building Code.
  • EIT preferred, however PE is also desirable.
  • Recent and/or soon to graduate candidates will be considered.
